Kathlén Kohn is an associate professor of mathematics at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, where she works at the Division of Algebra, Combinatorics, Geometry and Topology. She is also WASP Fellow, member of ELLIS, programme director for the SIAM Activity Group on Algebraic Geometry, and editorial member of Mathematical Foundations of Machine Learning. Her research focuses on algebraic geometry and its applications in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning and computer vision.
Kohn has a PhD in mathematics from the Technical Universität Berlin and was a postdoctoral researcher at ICERM (Brown University) and the University of Oslo. Her work includes algebraic neural network theory, geometric structures of deep learning, and algebraic methods in computer vision. For her contributions she received prestigious awards such as the Wallenberg Prize in Mathematics by the Swedish Mathematical Society.
