Pythagoras is a Dutch mathematics magazine that introduces students of vwo and havo, and everyone who is young in spirit to the fun and challenging aspects of mathematics. It appears six times a year in a paper edition.

Would you like to excite a young audience for math? Pythagoras is looking for a editor-in-chief (m/v) from 1 May 2026. It is a paid job for 1 day a week.

Tasks package:
The editor-in-chief is responsible for managing the editorial staff and organises the entire process from planning to publishing every issue of Pythagoras. He/she is responsible for acquiring copy and monitors the content line and tone of the sheet. The editor-in-chief maintains contact with editors and (guest) authors, as well as with the designer, printer and subscription administration. In addition, the editor-in-chief is the first contact point for Pythagoras for both the Netherlands and Belgium. For example, he/she represents Pythagoras at fairs and events such as the National Mathematics Days, the annual meeting of the Dutch Association for Mathematics Teachers, the Wintersymposium and MathFest. The editor-in-chief is also responsible for the social media of Pythagoras and organises promotional actions for the magazine.
